This document should be read alongside Computey’s Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Cookie Policy, each of which forms part of the legal framework governing your use of the Platform. In the event of any conflict between this document and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service shall prevail.
This Prohibited Items Policy forms part of Computey’s Terms of Service and is incorporated by reference. Terms defined in the Terms of Service have the same meaning here. This Policy is referenced in Section 5.4 of the Terms of Service, which requires Sellers not to list Prohibited Items on the Platform. The following categories of items may not be listed on the Platform under any circumstances. This list is illustrative and not exhaustive. Computey reserves the right to remove any Listing that it determines to be unsuitable for the Platform regardless of whether the item falls within a specifically enumerated category below.
- 1. Stolen or unlawfully obtained goods: Any item that has been stolen, misappropriated, or obtained through fraud, deception, or any other unlawful means, regardless of whether the Seller is aware of the item’s provenance.
- 2. Counterfeit and inauthentic goods: Any item that is represented as genuine but is a copy, replica, or imitation of a branded or trademarked product, including counterfeit electronics, fake accessories, and items bearing unauthorised use of a registered trademark.
- 3. Items with removed or altered serial numbers: Any device or component from which a serial number, IMEI, or other manufacturer identifier has been removed, defaced, or altered, whether or not the item is otherwise functional.
- 4. Region-locked or carrier-locked devices listed without disclosure: Any device that is locked to a specific geographic region or carrier network where this is not clearly disclosed in the Listing. Region-locked or carrier-locked devices may be listed provided the restriction is prominently disclosed and accurately reflected in the Listing description and price.
- 5. Non-technology items: Any item that does not fall within the Platform’s defined technology and electronics categories, including but not limited to clothing, food, vehicles, real estate, financial instruments, and services of any kind.
- 6. Hazardous materials and dangerous goods: Any item classified as a hazardous material or dangerous good under applicable transport or safety regulations, including items containing lithium batteries that do not comply with applicable shipping regulations, items emitting harmful radiation, and items containing prohibited chemicals or substances.
- 7. Items subject to export controls or sanctions: Any item whose export, import, sale, or transfer is restricted or prohibited under applicable export control law, sanctions regimes, or trade embargoes, including certain encryption technology, military-grade equipment, and items restricted under UK export licensing requirements.
- 8. Items infringing third-party intellectual property rights: Any item whose listing or sale would constitute infringement of a third party’s intellectual property rights, including copyright, trade mark, patent, or design rights, where the Seller does not have the right to sell the item or to reproduce the relevant intellectual property in their Listing.
- 9. Items requiring a licence or permit to sell: Any item whose sale requires a specific licence, permit, or authorisation under applicable law that the Seller does not hold, including certain radio frequency devices, medical equipment, and items subject to age-restricted sale requirements.
- 10. Items associated with criminal activity: Any item that is designed, modified, or primarily used to facilitate criminal activity, including devices modified to intercept communications, equipment used for the unauthorised access of computer systems, and any item whose primary purpose or use is unlawful.
Computey may update this Policy at any time without triggering the full amendment notice process under the Terms of Service, provided that any addition to the Prohibited Items list does not retroactively affect Transactions already in progress. Sellers will be notified of material additions to this Policy by notice on the Platform.
