Cookie Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Computey is a trading name of AEM Labs Limited, a private limited company incorporated in England and Wales (“we”, “us”, “our”). This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies and similar tracking technologies on computey.com (the “Platform”) and the rights available to you in relation to them.

This Cookie Policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, each of which forms part of the legal framework governing your use of the Platform.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites function correctly, to operate more efficiently, and to provide information to website operators. They act as a unique ID that the website issues to your browser, allowing the site to recognise you and retrieve your specific data when you return.

Cookies are not executable files and cannot carry viruses or malicious code. They do not give us access to your device beyond the specific data they are designed to collect.

In addition to cookies, we use related technologies including session tokens stored server-side. Where this policy refers to “cookies”, this should be read to include all functionally equivalent tracking technologies used on the Platform, unless the context requires otherwise.

2. How We Use Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes:

2.1   Strictly Necessary Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are essential to the operation of the Platform. They enable core functionality including account authentication, session management, and security. These cookies cannot be disabled without materially impairing the Platform’s function.

We operate server-side session management using encrypted session tokens. These tokens are stored securely in our infrastructure and referenced by a session identifier on your device. They are used solely to maintain the continuity of your authenticated session and to protect your account. No personal data is exposed client-side through these cookies.

Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (“PECR”) or the EU ePrivacy Directive. We do not, however, use strictly necessary cookies for any purpose beyond what is required for the Platform to function.

2.2   Analytics Cookies

With your consent, we use Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) to collect aggregated, anonymised data about how visitors use the Platform. This data helps us understand user behaviour, identify technical issues, and improve the Platform over time.

Google Analytics sets cookies on your device to track interactions such as pages visited, session duration, and navigation paths. The data collected is aggregated and does not, on its own, identify you as an individual. Google acts as a data processor in respect of this data, subject to its own terms of service and privacy policy

Analytics cookies are not set unless and until you provide your consent through our cookie consent mechanism, described in Section 4 below.

2.3   Platform Integrity and Security Technologies

In addition to the cookies described above, we collect certain device and session information as part of our platform integrity and security measures. This includes data used to detect and prevent abusive behaviour, including re-registration attempts by banned users. This information is collected through a combination of server-side session analysis and client-side signals and is processed on the basis of our legitimate interests in maintaining Platform security. This processing does not require your consent as it is necessary for the integrity and security of the Platform. Further details of this processing are set out in our Privacy Policy.

3. Cookies We Use

TThe following describes the categories of cookies currently in use on the Platform, the parties that set them, and the purposes for which they may be used. The specific cookies within each category are subject to change as the Platform develops. We will update this policy where any such change materially affects the nature or purpose of cookies in use.

Strictly Necessary Cookies

Set by Computey. These cookies are essential to the operation of the Platform and are set automatically when you access it. They support core functions including user authentication, secure session management, and the maintenance of your logged-in state. Session cookies of this type expire automatically upon logout or when your session times out, and are not retained beyond the active session. They do not track your activity for any purpose other than enabling the Platform to function.

If you arrive through a first-party referral link (for example ?ref=agent01), we also set a first-party cookie named computey_ref for up to 30 days. It stores only the referral code so we can attribute a later registration to that campaign. It does not contain your name, email, or payment details, and it is not used for third-party advertising.

Analytics Cookies

Set by Google Analytics, on behalf of Computey, where you have provided your consent. These cookies allow us to understand how visitors interact with the Platform in aggregate, including which pages are visited, how users navigate between sections, and where technical issues may occur. The information collected is anonymised and used solely to improve the Platform. Analytics cookies are not set unless and until your consent is obtained.

Platform Integrity and Security

Collected through a combination of server-side and client-side mechanisms by Computey. These signals are used to maintain Platform security, detect misuse, and prevent re-registration by permanently suspended users. They do not track your activity for commercial or advertising purposes. They are active for all users regardless of cookie consent preferences, as they are necessary for the security and integrity of the Platform.

4. Your Consent and How It Works

When you visit the Platform for the first time, or where no cookie preference has been previously recorded for your session, a cookie consent notice will be presented to you. This notice provides you with the following options:

Non-essential cookies, including Google Analytics cookies, are not set unless and until you select “Accept”. The Google Tag Manager code responsible for loading analytics is withheld from your session until your affirmative consent is recorded.

If you have not expressed a preference – including where your browser or a browser extension has blocked our consent mechanism from rendering – no non-essential cookies will be set. An inability by your device or browser to display the consent notice does not result in any default acceptance of cookies. The default position, in the absence of a detected preference, is that non-essential cookies are not active.

Your consent preference, once given, is stored and recognised on subsequent visits. You may withdraw or change your preference at any time by contacting us using the details in Section 8 of this policy, or by clearing your cookies and revisiting the Platform.

5. Managing Cookies Through Your Browser

In addition to the consent mechanism provided on the Platform, most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically instruct your browser to:

Please be aware that restricting or deleting cookies, including strictly necessary cookies, may affect the functionality of the Platform. In particular, disabling session cookies will prevent you from logging in to your account or completing transactions.

Browser settings and controls differ between products and versions. Please consult the help documentation for your specific browser to understand how to manage cookies on your device.

6. Third-Party Cookies and Services

We use a limited number of third-party services that may set cookies on your device where you have consented to analytics cookies. Currently, those third parties are:

Google Analytics (Google LLC) – used to analyse Platform usage. Google’s use of data collected via Google Analytics is governed by Google’s own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.

Stripe (Stripe, Inc.) – used to process payments securely. Stripe may set cookies as part of the payment process. These are strictly necessary for transaction processing and do not require separate consent. Stripe’s use of data is governed by its own privacy policy, available at stripe.com/privacy.

We do not use advertising networks, retargeting services, social media tracking pixels, or any other third-party tracking tools beyond those listed above. We will update this policy promptly if this changes.

We do not sell or share data collected through cookies with any third party for commercial purposes.

7. Legal Framework

Our use of cookies is governed by the following legal frameworks, applied according to the jurisdiction in which you access the Platform:

United Kingdom

For users accessing the Platform from the United Kingdom, our use of cookies is regulated by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (SI 2003/2426) (PECR), as amended, and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), incorporated into UK law by the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018, together with the Data Protection Act 2018. The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is the supervisory authority for data protection and cookie compliance in the United Kingdom.

European Union

For users accessing the Platform from within the European Economic Area (EEA), our use of cookies is regulated by the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC, as amended by 2009/136/EC) as implemented in applicable EU member state law, and the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (EU GDPR). The applicable supervisory authority is the data protection authority of the EU member state from which you are accessing the Platform.

General

Both the UK and EU frameworks require that non-essential cookies are only set with your prior, freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent. Consent may be withdrawn at any time. Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the consent requirement under both frameworks.

9. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to update or amend this Cookie Policy at any time, including but not limited to changes arising from: the introduction of new cookies or tracking technologies; changes to the third-party services we use; amendments to session configuration or cookie duration; and developments in applicable law or regulatory guidance.

Any changes will be published on this page with an updated “Last updated” date at the top of the document. Where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention, which may include displaying a notice on the Platform or, where appropriate, contacting you directly.

Where changes to this Cookie Policy are material – including the introduction of new cookie categories, new third-party processors, or changes to the consent mechanism – we will take active steps to bring those changes to your attention, which may include displaying a prominent notice on the Platform or, where appropriate, resetting your cookie consent preference so that you are invited to make a fresh choice reflecting the updated policy. Your continued use of the Platform following notification of material changes constitutes your acknowledgement of the revised policy. We recommend that you review this policy periodically to ensure you remain informed of how we use cookies.
