This document should be read alongside Computey’s Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Cookie Policy, each of which forms part of the legal framework governing your use of the Platform. In the event of any conflict between this document and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service shall prevail.
This Payments & Payouts Policy forms part of Computey’s Terms of Service and is incorporated by reference. Terms defined in the Terms of Service have the same meaning here. This Policy sets out the mechanics governing Transactions, Escrow, Commission and other Fees, Payouts, and Shipping and Delivery on the Platform.
1. Transaction Mechanisms and Fees
1.1 Transaction Lifecycle
A Transaction on the Platform follows the sequence set out below. Each stage carries defined rights and obligations for the Buyer, the Seller, and Computey.
- Order placement: The Buyer selects a Listing and proceeds to checkout. Payment is processed by Computey’s Payment Processor. On successful payment, the Transaction is confirmed and both Buyer and Seller receive notification.
- Escrow: Transaction proceeds are captured to Computey’s designated account with its Payment Processor and held in Escrow pending fulfilment and Buyer Confirmation. No funds are paid to the Seller until release. Computey’s Commission and applicable payment processing fees are identified at this stage but deducted at the point of Payout.
- Dispatch: The Seller dispatches the item within 3 Working Days of order confirmation and provides tracking information via the Platform.
- Delivery and Confirmation Window: Upon Delivery Confirmation by the carrier, the 3-day Confirmation Window opens. The Buyer confirms receipt or raises a Dispute during this period.
- Payout: Where the Buyer confirms receipt, or where the Confirmation Window expires without a Dispute being raised, funds are released from Escrow and a Payout is initiated to the Seller’s designated account with Computey’s Payment Processor within 2 Working Days, less applicable Fees.
During the Escrow period, Transaction proceeds are not held in Computey’s corporate bank accounts and remain within the Payment Processor’s regulated payment infrastructure. Proceeds are not paid to the Seller until the release conditions in this Section 1.1 are met. Computey’s Commission, once retained at the point of Payout, settles to Computey’s corporate bank account in accordance with the Payment Processor’s standard settlement schedule; this does not affect the Seller’s Payout or the Buyer’s Transaction proceeds. Computey instructs its Payment Processor as to the timing and amount of Payouts and refunds in accordance with this Policy.
1.2 Platform Fees and Commission
Computey charges a Commission on each completed Transaction. The applicable Commission rate is determined by the Seller’s account status at the time of the Transaction, as set out in Schedule 1. Current rates are as follows:
- Early Adopter Sellers: Zero Commission. Early Adopter status is granted to the first 50 verified seller accounts created on the Platform and is a lifetime benefit for those accounts, subject to the account remaining in good standing. Early Adopter status is non-transferable and is forfeited permanently upon account closure or permanent suspension.
- Individual Sellers: 5% of the Transaction value, inclusive of payment processing costs.
- Business Sellers: 7% of the Transaction value, inclusive of payment processing costs.
Commission is deducted automatically from the Transaction proceeds at the point of Payout by transferring to the Seller an amount less than the full Transaction value, with the difference retained by Computey as Commission. The Seller’s Payout represents the Transaction value less the applicable Commission. Computey does not charge listing fees, listing limits, editing fees, monthly subscription fees, or any fee for early account closure. The fee structure described above represents the complete and exclusive fee obligation of the Seller to Computey in respect of each Transaction, subject to Schedule 1 and any future amendments notified in accordance with Section 15 of the Terms of Service.
Computey reserves the right to introduce new fee types, seller tiers, or adjusted Commission rates in the future, including tiered plans that offer reduced Commission rates or additional features in exchange for a subscription or other arrangement. Any such changes will be introduced in accordance with the amendment and notice provisions of Section 15 of the Terms of Service and will not apply retrospectively to Transactions already in progress.
1.3 Payment Processing Fees
The Payment Processor’s payment processing fees are absorbed within Computey’s Commission for all Sellers paying Commission. For Early Adopter Sellers whose Commission rate is zero, the Payment Processor’s standard payment processing fee is deducted from the Transaction proceeds at the point of Payout. Early Adopter Sellers acknowledge and accept that while Computey does not charge Commission, the Payment Processor’s processing fee remains applicable and is not waived by Computey’s zero-fee commitment.
The Payment Processor’s processing fees are set by the Payment Processor and are subject to change at its discretion. Computey has no control over the Payment Processor’s fee structure. Current Payment Processor fees are available to Sellers directly from the Payment Processor.
By registering a seller account and agreeing to the Terms of Service, each Seller authorises Computey to recover any sum properly due to Computey under the Terms of Service, this Policy, or Computey’s Dispute & Returns Policy, including under Section 5.5 of the Terms of Service, Sections 1.7 and 2.6 of this Policy, and the applicable cost-recovery provisions of Computey’s Dispute & Returns Policy, by deduction from any future Payout, by invoice, or by debiting the Seller’s connected payment account using the account debit functionality made available by Computey’s Payment Processor from time to time. This authorisation constitutes the Seller’s informed consent for the purposes of any consent requirement imposed by the Payment Processor in connection with that functionality, and remains in effect for as long as the Seller holds an account on the Platform. Computey will notify the Seller in writing of the amount recovered and the basis for the charge in each instance, in accordance with the provision under which the sum is owed.
1.4 Buyer Protection Fee
Computey reserves the right to introduce a Buyer Protection fee, charged as a percentage of the order total to Buyers at the point of checkout. Where a Buyer Protection fee is introduced, it will be clearly disclosed at checkout prior to payment confirmation. The Buyer Protection fee, where applicable, contributes to the funding of Computey’s Buyer Protection provisions under Computey’s Dispute & Returns Policy.
The Buyer Protection fee is not currently active. Where Buyer Protection obligations arise under Computey’s Dispute & Returns Policy prior to the introduction of a Buyer Protection fee, the associated costs are absorbed by Computey as a commercial decision and are not extracted from Transaction proceeds, Commission, or any other fee currently charged to Buyers or Sellers. Where Computey determines to introduce a Buyer Protection fee, Users will be notified in accordance with Section 15 of the Terms of Service. The introduction of a Buyer Protection fee does not affect the Commission structure applicable to Sellers.
1.5 Escrow and Fund Holding
Transaction proceeds are processed by Computey’s Payment Processor and held in Computey’s designated account with that Payment Processor in Escrow from the point of successful payment until the release conditions set out in Section 1.1 are met. The Escrow period encompasses the Seller’s dispatch window, the transit period, and the Confirmation Window. Escrow funds are not accessible to the Seller until Payout is initiated by Computey.
Where a Dispute is raised during the Confirmation Window and Escrow funds have not yet been released to the Seller, those funds are placed on hold in Computey’s designated account with its Payment Processor pending resolution of the Dispute in accordance with Computey’s Dispute & Returns Policy. Because Payout may complete automatically before a Dispute is submitted or acknowledged, funds may already have been released to the Seller by the time a Dispute is raised; where this is the case, the post-payout claims provisions of Computey’s Dispute & Returns Policy apply. Computey will instruct its Payment Processor as to the disposition of any held funds upon resolution of the Dispute, which may be a full or partial release to the Seller, a full or partial refund to the Buyer, or a combination thereof.
Where a Seller has already received a Payout prior to a post-payout Dispute or claim being raised, Computey’s ability to issue a refund from held funds is limited. Post-payout claims are governed by Computey’s Dispute & Returns Policy.
1.6 Payout Schedule
Subject to the release conditions in Section 1.1, Payouts are initiated within 2 Working Days of Buyer Confirmation or automatic release following expiry of the Confirmation Window. Payouts are transferred to the Seller’s connected payment account, from which Computey’s Payment Processor transfers funds to the Seller’s nominated bank account in accordance with the payout schedule set by Computey and the Seller’s account settings with the Payment Processor.
Payouts may be delayed for risk, fraud-prevention, or compliance reasons, including where a Dispute is active in respect of the relevant Transaction, where Computey or its Payment Processor has reasonable grounds to suspect fraud or a policy breach, or where the Seller has not completed the Payment Processor’s identity verification process. Computey will notify the Seller where a Payout is delayed and the reason for the delay, except where disclosure would compromise an ongoing investigation.
1.7 Cancellations Prior to Dispatch
A Buyer with a registered account may submit a cancellation request directly to the Seller via the Platform’s order management tools. The cancellation request is sent to the Seller, who may accept or decline it. Both parties are encouraged to liaise directly to reach a resolution. Guest Buyers without a registered account must submit cancellation requests via Computey’s support channels, and Computey will contact the Seller on the Buyer’s behalf.
Where a Seller accepts a pre-dispatch cancellation request from a registered Buyer via the Platform’s order management tools, Computey will process the refund through the Platform. Where a Seller cancels an order they are unable to fulfil under Section 5.5 of the Terms of Service, the Seller cancels from the seller dashboard and Computey will process the refund through the Platform. Guest Buyers without a registered account must submit cancellation requests via Computey’s support channels. Computey reserves the right to request confirmation of agreement from both parties before processing any refund that is not completed through the Platform’s order management tools.
Where cancellation is confirmed before the item has been dispatched, a full refund will be issued to the Buyer and no Payout will be made to the Seller. Where a Seller has already dispatched the item at the time a cancellation request is received, the cancellation request will be treated as a return request and governed by the Seller's Seller Return and Warranty Policy and the provisions of Computey’s Dispute & Returns Policy, subject to the Buyer’s statutory rights. A Seller must not unreasonably refuse a cancellation request received before dispatch.
This Section 1.7 governs cancellations that are genuinely Buyer-initiated or reached by mutual agreement for reasons unconnected to Seller conduct, such as a Buyer's change of mind accepted by the Seller before dispatch. Where a cancellation request arises from the Seller's own conduct, including inaccurate stock information, a listing error, or an inability to fulfil the order, the cancellation is governed by Section 5.5 of the Terms of Service and not by this Section, and Computey’s right of recovery under Section 5.5 of the Terms of Service applies accordingly. Save as set out in Section 5.5 of the Terms of Service, Computey absorbs any non-recoverable payment processing cost arising from a cancellation governed by this Section 1.7 as a deliberate commercial decision, consistent with its treatment of the Buyer Protection fee under Section 1.4.
2. Shipping and Delivery
2.1 Computey’s Role in Shipping
Computey is not a carrier, freight forwarder, or logistics provider. Computey does not take physical possession of items at any stage of the Transaction process. The Platform’s integrated shipping tool is made available to Sellers to facilitate label generation and rate calculation. The use of this tool does not make Computey a party to the contract of carriage between the Seller and the carrier, and does not make Computey responsible for the performance of the carrier.
All responsibility for the safe and timely dispatch and delivery of items sold on the Platform rests with the Seller. Computey’s obligations in respect of shipping are limited to facilitating access to the Platform’s integrated shipping tool, presenting shipping rate estimates at checkout, and generating labels on the Seller’s behalf where integrated shipping is selected.
2.2 Delivery Methods
Sellers may fulfil orders through any of the following delivery methods, selected at the time of listing:
- Integrated shipping: The Seller uses the Platform’s integrated shipping tool to generate a shipping label at a cost calculated at checkout based on item weight, dimensions, the Buyer’s delivery address. The label cost is charged to the Buyer at checkout and remitted to cover the label generation cost.
- Seller-fulfilled shipping: The Seller arranges their own carrier and dispatches the item independently. The Seller is responsible for setting an accurate shipping cost in the Listing and for providing tracking information to the Buyer and Computey within the 3 Working Day dispatch window.
- Local collection: The Seller and Buyer arrange collection directly. Payment is processed through the Platform at the point of order confirmation and funds are held in Escrow until Collection Confirmation is recorded. The collection confirmation process is described in Section 2.6.
2.3 Seller Shipping Obligations
Sellers who use integrated shipping are responsible for ensuring that the item weight, dimensions, and other information submitted for rate calculation and label generation are accurate. Where a label cost is calculated on the basis of inaccurate information provided by the Seller, resulting in an underpayment to the carrier or a surcharge, the additional cost is the Seller’s sole responsibility. Computey is not liable for any additional charges, delays, or failed deliveries arising from inaccurate Seller-provided shipping information.
Sellers who use seller-fulfilled shipping must select a carrier and service appropriate to the value and fragility of the item being dispatched. Items of significant value should be sent using a tracked and insured service. Computey strongly recommends that Sellers retain proof of postage for all dispatched items.
2.4 Tracking and Proof of Dispatch
For all seller-fulfilled orders, tracking information must be provided to the Buyer and recorded on the Platform within 3 Working Days of order confirmation. Where tracking information is not provided within this window, the order may be treated as not arrived for the purposes of Computey’s Dispute & Returns Policy, and the Buyer may raise a Dispute on that basis.
Tracking information provided by the Seller must be valid and must correspond to the actual shipment. Where invalid or unrelated tracking information is provided due to an apparent error, Computey will contact the Seller to request correction before taking further action. The deliberate provision of false tracking information – that is, tracking information that does not correspond to the shipment and has been provided with the intention of deceiving the Buyer or Computey – is a material breach of the Terms of Service. In such cases, Computey will record the breach in the Seller’s User Health Record, pause the associated Payout pending investigation, and apply enforcement action in accordance with Section 8 of the Terms of Service, which may include temporary or permanent suspension depending on the Seller’s prior record and the severity of the breach.
2.5 Lost, Damaged, and Undelivered Items
Where an item is lost or damaged in transit, the Seller’s liability to the Buyer is assessed in accordance with the Post-Sale Evidence provisions of Computey’s Dispute & Returns Policy. The Seller bears primary responsibility for ensuring items are adequately packaged and dispatched via an appropriate carrier service.
Where an item is marked as delivered by the carrier but the Buyer disputes receipt, Computey will assess the Dispute with reference to carrier tracking data, delivery confirmation records, and any other available evidence. Carrier tracking data indicating successful delivery creates a rebuttable presumption that the item was delivered. The Buyer bears the evidential burden of demonstrating non-receipt in such circumstances.
Sellers are advised to take out appropriate carrier insurance for items of significant value. Computey does not offer or arrange carrier insurance and is not responsible for any loss arising from a Seller’s failure to insure a shipment.
Where a Seller uses the Platform’s integrated shipping service, the shipping label generated may carry a level of built-in carrier compensation subject to the terms and conditions of the carrier selected. The level of compensation, if any, is determined by the carrier and the service type selected, and is not guaranteed or augmented by Computey. Sellers who wish to ensure coverage beyond the carrier’s standard compensation limit should arrange supplementary insurance independently. Computey accepts no responsibility for any shortfall between a carrier’s compensation limit and the value of a lost or damaged item.
2.6 Local Collection and Collection Confirmation
Where local collection is selected as the delivery method, payment is processed at the point of order confirmation and funds are held in Escrow until Collection Confirmation is recorded. The item is not physically exchanged and Escrow funds are not released until both parties have confirmed the handover via the process described in this section.
At the point of physical meeting, both the Buyer and the Seller must independently confirm the handover via the Platform before Collection Confirmation is recorded. Neither party is obligated to confirm until they are satisfied to proceed. The Buyer should use the moment prior to confirming to inspect the item and verify that it corresponds to the Listing. Where the Buyer inspects the item and finds it to be materially not as described, the Buyer must not confirm the handover. Instead, the Buyer should decline to proceed with the exchange and raise a Dispute through the Platform’s support channels before leaving the collection point. Where either party does not confirm, Escrow funds remain held and no Collection Confirmation is recorded. Upon Collection Confirmation being recorded, the Confirmation Window opens on the same basis as a carrier-delivered order, and the standard payout process under Section 1.6 applies.
Where the Seller fails to attend the agreed collection appointment without reasonable notice, or where the Seller attends but refuses to confirm handover without reasonable justification, the Buyer may raise a Dispute through the Platform’s support channels. Computey will treat such cases as an unfulfilled order and a refund will ordinarily be issued to the Buyer, with the associated cost borne by the Seller. That cost, including any non-recoverable payment processing cost and any Commission Computey would otherwise have earned on the Transaction, is recoverable from the Seller in accordance with Section 5.5 of the Terms of Service.
Where Collection Confirmation has not been recorded within 5 Working Days of the order confirmation date, the order will automatically enter a failed collection state. Computey will notify both parties by email and both will have a further 48 hours to complete the collection and record Collection Confirmation, or to agree a cancellation through Computey’s support channels. Where neither Collection Confirmation nor a cancellation agreement is recorded within that secondary window, a full refund will be issued to the Buyer automatically and the order will be closed. Where neither party has raised a Dispute before the automatic refund is issued, Computey has no basis to attribute fault to either party, and any non-recoverable payment processing cost arising from that refund is shared equally between the Buyer and the Seller, deducted in equal parts from the Buyer's refund and recovered from the Seller in accordance with Section 1.3. Computey does not require either party to disclose collection appointment details and does not monitor or mediate collection scheduling. The sole objective trigger for all collection-related outcomes under this Policy is whether Collection Confirmation has been recorded on the Platform, and all determinations are made by reference to that record alone. Where either party wishes to raise a Dispute before the 5-day period expires, they may do so through Computey’s support channels at any time, which will pause the automatic process and trigger the Dispute resolution framework under Computey’s Dispute & Returns Policy. Where Computey identifies a pattern of repeated failed collections attributable to a particular User’s conduct, enforcement action may be taken against that User’s account in accordance with Section 8 of the Terms of Service.
Computey strongly recommends that local collection takes place in a safe, public location. Computey does not facilitate, arrange, or guarantee collection appointments and accepts no responsibility for the personal safety of either party in connection with a local collection.
Where a Dispute arises in connection with a local collection order, the Platform’s confirmation record is the primary evidence of whether Collection Confirmation occurred. Where Collection Confirmation has been recorded, the same evidential framework as carrier-delivered orders applies under Computey’s Dispute & Returns Policy. Where no Collection Confirmation has been recorded, Escrow funds remain held and Computey will determine the Dispute on the basis of all available evidence.
SCHEDULE 1 – Fee Schedule
This Schedule forms part of Computey’s Payments & Payouts Policy and is referenced in Sections 1.2 and 1.3. All fees are stated inclusive of VAT where applicable. Computey reserves the right to amend this Schedule in accordance with Section 15 of the Terms of Service.
1. Seller Commission
- Early Adopter Sellers (first 50 verified seller accounts): 0% Commission. Lifetime benefit, non-transferable, subject to account remaining in good standing. The Payment Processor’s standard payment processing fee applies and is deducted from Transaction proceeds at Payout.
- Individual Sellers: 5% of Transaction value. Inclusive of payment processing costs charged by Computey’s Payment Processor. No additional payment processing fee is charged to Individual Sellers.
- Business Sellers: 7% of Transaction value. Inclusive of payment processing costs charged by Computey’s Payment Processor. No additional payment processing fee is charged to Business Sellers.
2. Buyer Fees
No buyer fees are currently charged. Computey reserves the right to introduce a Buyer Protection fee as a percentage of the order total, subject to the notice provisions of Section 15 of the Terms of Service and the provisions of Section 1.4.
3. Other Fees
There are currently no listing fees, listing limits, editing fees, monthly subscription fees, or seller lock-in fees. Computey reserves the right to introduce tiered seller plans in the future offering additional features or reduced Commission rates, subject to the notice provisions of Section 15 of the Terms of Service. Participation in any future tier will be voluntary.
4. Payment Processing Fees
The Payment Processor’s payment processing fees are set by the Payment Processor and are subject to change at its discretion. For all Commission-paying Sellers, the Payment Processor’s processing fee is absorbed within the Commission rate stated above. For Early Adopter Sellers, the Payment Processor’s standard processing fee is deducted directly from Transaction proceeds at the point of Payout.
